Debate successful on many levels
Sarah managed a remarkable turnaround in Thursday nights debate. A CNN post-debate poll said 84% of voters thought Sarah did better than they had expected, but 51% to 36% decided Biden did the better job overall.
There were some key moments to speak of. On a question of the failed banking system Sarah replied "Darn right it was the predator lenders, who tried to talk Americans into thinking that it was smart to buy a $300,000 house if we could only afford a $100,000 house. There was deception there, and there was greed and there is corruption on Wall Street… I think we need to band together and say never again."
"Ah, say it ain’t so, Joe," she quipped after a salvo where Biden piled the hate on George Bush. "Now, doggone it, let’s look ahead."
It remains to be seen if her performance will provide any lift to the sagging McCain campaign.
Will Sarah Sparkle in debate?
Tonight is going to be possibly the most watched debate in television history. Will Sarah Palin sparkle and improve McCain’s chances of a victory? That is the question and we will know one way or another in a few hours.
McCain told “Fox & Friends” reporters: “We let Sarah be Sarah. She’s smart, she’s tough, she’s been in debates before,” “The American people … the more they see of her, the more they love her, and I’m confident of that at the end.”
On Thursday former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., told CBS’”The Early Show” that “People will have a chance to see her from beginning to end without being edited,” “We’ve all had bad days,” Thompson said, “and she’s had some bad moments in some of these interviews, just like the rest of us have had.”
Sarah has been diligently preparing at McCain’s retreat in Sedona, Ariz.
Sarah’s email hacked by Democratic state lawmakers son
Interesting details which describe how someone hacked into Sarah’s Yahoo Mail account emerged on Thursday. FBI searched the residence of the son of a Democratic state lawmaker in Tennessee over the weekend looking for evidence linking the young man to the hacking. A flaw in the Yahoo! password reset procedure allowed the perp access to Sara’s personal emails and contact list.
Knoxville News Sentinel reported a 20-year-old University of Tennessee student has been contacted in connection to the federal investigation of the break-in.
When Yahoo Mail prompted for Sarah’s birthday, the poster said it took only 15 seconds on Wikipedia to answer that question. When it prompted for ZIP code, Wasilla, Ala., has only two ZIP Codes. As for Sarah’s personal security question "Where did you meet your spouse?" that did slow the process down. It took several tries but eventually the kid hit upon the correct answer: Wasilla High.
The Age of Palin
One of the world’s leading independent news sites WorldNetDaily.com founder Joe Farah today urged his readers to vote Sarah Palin for President.
Joes’ reasoning is that "Sarah Palin has been a genuine breath of fresh air in this campaign. She has introduced energy into American politics. She has reinvigorated the debate. She has overshadowed not only her rival, Biden but Obama and McCain as well”. In his latest book titled “None of the Above”, Joe Farah has declared that John McCain and Barack Obama are unqualified for the office of President. He does feel however that Sarah Palin is suited for the job and in addition has more executive experience than McCain, Obama and Joe Biden combined.
"At least half the Republicans voting for McCain will be holding their nose on Election Day or pretending they’re actually voting for Sarah Palin" said Farah. "So, why pretend? Why hold your nose? Why wait for 2012 or 2016? Why not vote for Sarah Palin now?" SarahPedia wonders how many of the McCain voters will really be voting for Sarah Palin. We welcome your comments.
Sarah shines in first TV interview
Palin gave a three-hour interview to ABC News and her supporters have concluded her performance during the interview was evidence she is fit to lead the country. In the interview which was aired over two days due to the excitement the self-styled hockey mom, hunter and Governor has created in the White House race. Sarah Palin remained cool under pressure and according to her defenders was a victim of unbalanced questions from a typically biased media.
In spite of all this even critics’ heaped praise on Sarah Palin: Dan Gerstein, a Democratic consultant, said in part: "Palin’s performance confirmed what we already know - that she is a tough, talented, and likeable politician”. Michael Steele, the former deputy governor of Maryland, said: "Everyone feels she has to prove who she is, but she handled it very well for someone who three weeks ago was running her state. And she will get better."
President Palin in 2012?
A former senior adviser to President Bill Clinton declared Sarah Palin is an "authentic model of feminism" and her vice-presidential candidacy "could well" lead to an historic all-female White House race in 2012 against Hillary Clinton. Given 4 years experience as Vice President learning beside McCain this could very well be all Sarah needs in the way of experience.
On a lighter note the Sarah-Mania continues and we have just learned after receiving a surge of requests Wig Salon has been promoting a range of Sarah-style wigs and hair pieces. These stylish bits of endearment range from the $115 Raquel Welch "Valentine" style - which "reflects the fresh, vibrant yet mature look of SARAH PALIN" to a $45 "Bargain Sarah Palin" wig in ginger brown which is "great for partying, too".
Sarah’s style sparks fashion frenzy
It has been less than 2 weeks since the ‘Sarah Palin’ name has become a household word and she has sparked a fashion revolution that is sweeping the nation. Her rimless glasses for example have become a style phenomenon. She wears the titanium Kawasaki 704 frames which are designed in Japan. These sell for $300 – and are apparently flying off the shelves. Quick US entrepreneurs have begun importing them for sale on sites such as eBay.
In addition her stylish upswept hairdo is also allegedly producing a host of imitators. Booth Moore, a fashion writer for the LA times wrote: "The untidiness of her hair has a can-do spirit that says, ‘I have more important things to do than worry about my hair, so I just twirled it into this clip so I could get to the real business of governing and shooting caribou and having babies and taking them to hockey practice.’"
The Sarah Factor
Voters, and especially white women seem to agree that Palin is a compelling addition to the ticket. According to the latest polls from an ABC News-Washington Post survey: white women have moved from backing Obama by 8 points to supporting McCain by 12 points. In addition the majority view Sarah Palin favorably and claim she boosts their faith in McCain’s decisions.
These statistics have been the cause of great concern in the Obama camp. Lately Obama is putting as much heat on Sarah as he is on McCain, objecting to the Republican’s portrayal of her as a reformer who can bring change to Washington.
With Palin out on the campaign trail every day blasting him, it became increasingly clear Obama needed to make a move to undermine her credibility. The McCain-Palin spokesman Tucker Bounds claims Obama’s negative attacks clearly demonstrate he is increasingly desperate.
Obama tax proposal provides little relief
Source Washington Post: According to a recent analysis Obama and McCain are both proposing tax plans that would result in cuts for most American families. The graphic below indicates only the poorest of families will benefit by an Obama win.
The McCain plan will save more tax dollars for all households whose combined income exceeds $111,000.
